Today’s email included a letter from Chesa Boudin (complete copy at the end). Mr. Boudin is San Francisco’s District Attorney. His letter included the following paragraph.
My 75-year-old father is currently in prison in New York State, and I continue to fear for him and other vulnerable incarcerated people. That’s why it’s so important that Our Revolution has the resources they need to elect more district attorneys like me who will fight for criminal justice reform.
Really. This is a reminder of what his dad is in prison for (via Wikipedia).
When Boudin was 14 months old, his parents [Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert] were arrested for murder in their role as getaway car drivers in the Brink’s robbery of 1981 in Rockland County, New York. His mother was sentenced to 20 years to life and his father to 75 years to life for the felony murders of two police officers and a security guard. After his parents were incarcerated, Boudin was raised in Chicago by adoptive parents Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, who, like his parents, had been members of the Weather Underground. Boudin did not learn to read until age 9, a phenomenon common to children of incarcerated parents. Kathy Boudin was released under parole supervision in 2003.
Yeah, his dad is the real victim here.
